Wow, it looks like even the City's changed for today! This is really amazing! There's been a lot of stuff going on today. And everyone else is going trick-or-treating later, so I'm going with them! I've never really gotten to do any of this before since it's such a western holiday. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun. Everyone be safe tonight, okay?

And today's something else important, too.

[Hikaru's bed shouldn't be any different than his bed, especially since they've shared his bed while her nightmares persisted, but. But. It is different, though he doesn't say as much out loud, and he hopes his body-language doesn't betray his thoughts as he sits down (near her pillows) with the box in his lap.

Now to begin the arduous process of getting the lovely red wrapping paper off. It took a while to unwrap Keiichi's...gift...but this would probably take longer.

...About a half-an-hour, to be exact. Once the wrapping comes free, he sets it to the side and removes the lid of the box, which he also sets to the side.]

...Hikaru, this is-

[Lifting his gift out of the box, he positively beams.]

[When he started unwrapping, she took a seat next to him. Watching, waiting. She really hoped he'd like it. The time it took to put it together didn't matter so much to her as much as what it is.

When he finishes, she sits up a bit and watches his reaction expectantly. He seems to like it for the moment.]

[A photo album. Full of memories- City memories. Things that he never, ever wanted to forget, should the time come that he returned home for good (there was always the possibility looming over them). Each picture (each memory) had been painstakingly arranged- he knew that if he were to hold a ruler to them, the pictures would be spaced the same distance apart. The sizes of the pictures were taken into consideration as well.

...Everything that he would've done, every small detail that he would have considered, she had done, had considered.

There's a lump in his throat when he glances up from one of the pages at her.]

Okay? It's...

[She'd have to infer from his expression what he wanted to say, because words were failing him.]

[She watches him for a long time before concluding that he liked it. She's glad -- it wasn't really something that special or normal, so she was worried he wouldn't like it.

But his expression says otherwise.]

...I'm glad. I wanted to make sure it would be something special, so I tried to get as many pictures of everyone together as I could.

[Always so thoughtful, this girl--his girl, his Hikaru. And in moments like these, he understands just how lucky he was to have met her. She's become an integral part of his life, whether she fully comprehends that or not.

He wonders if she knows what this gift means to him.

Yet he couldn't explain if he were asked.]

[She was afraid he wouldn't like it; knowing he did meant she could do something good. She could do something right.

That makes her happier than she's been in a long time. She's happy she spent all those days with her camera nearby, glad she took all the time to make sure it was perfect for him -- she didn't want him to be depressed if something was off.

She's, for once in many many months, truly happy, without the bittersweetness. Not even thinking, she leans over and kisses his cheek. She means these words whispered against his cheek:]

...You're welcome.

[There is a saying that, during certain moments, time seems to stand still. A bit clichéd, perhaps, but to Kid, it really did feel as though time came to a screeching halt.

She kissed him.

Hikaru kissed him.

He blinks once, twice. His mind is a complete blank- the only thing running through it is Hikaru kissed me.]

[It takes her a few moments to realize what exactly she did. It'd felt right and she didn't really think about it. But now, realizing it, she's ...embarassed would be an undestatement. Her face turns a deep shade of red while she looks down.

Why did she do that? Everything Ty Lee and Guy had been saying the last couple months was messing with her.

Her voice is soft, almost whispered out of pure shyness.]

...I-i'm sorry.

[Sorry? What on earth is she sorry for? He didn't think it was possible to be any happier than he was, but that kiss proved him very wrong.

His head clears a little, and he smiles at her.]

We're together, aren't we? [His voice is equally soft, though not out of embarrassment, but rather because it fits the mood.] Don't apologize.

[His smile helps, but not by much. She doesn't feel as sorry for it, but she feels even more awkward being reminded that they are together.

And that was the fact of the matter: they are together. He was trying his best to be patient with her, so she had to do her best for him.

She lifts her head and smiles a little back.]

Mm, we are.
